As a former college athlete that is now a licensed attorney that is also a die hard college football fan. This era of NIL is truly the gift that keeps on giving. Because what do you mean around New Years, we had a player sued by his university where he was currently a student at the time to prevent him from entering the transfer portal and transferring to Miami. Then, we had a gambling addict transfer to a school and then it come out that he violated the NCAA's rules and the NCAA said, no, you can't play. Then he sued the NCAA and said, "It's unfair for you to prevent me from playing, even though I bet on my own game." That a few weeks ago, you had a university sue its two former players for $1 million for entering the transfer portal and transferring to the school where the head coach went to. For reneging on the revenue sharing agreement. And today, I am rubbing my temples. You have a former player sending a cease and desist to the university where he played where he won a Heisman to prevent them from using his NIL. Because they gave his jersey number, his UNretired jersey number to someone else. He feels "The Daniels family is deeply disappointed and feels profoundly disrespected by LSU's decision to give Jayden's number to another player," the statement from Daniels' spokesperson said. "profoudly disrespected." This is just so embarrassing, no matter how you slice or dice it. Number one, any place in these statements where it's saying "a Representative Daniels" I'm just assuming it's his mother, so there's that. Number two, I'm just gonna assume you're not in your right mind if you play quarterback at LSU, POST Joe Burrow, and you publicly complain that you are not receiving the same recognition and respect as Joe Burrow. I don't care that you won a Heisman. Not all Heismans, Heismen are created equal. The other reason this is really embarrassing is because typically when a jersey number that has not been retired isn't used, it's also because the players don't wanna use it. No player wants to be #9 at LSU. I can guarantee it. No one, no one in their right mind anyway. But #5? To be honest, I didn't even remember that was Jayden Daniels' number until this whole fiasco. I didn't even remember that he was #5 at LSU. And #9 is going to be retired at LSU in the foreseeable future because Joe Burrow had arguably the best season of college football of any college football player, certainly of any quarterback and certainly of any player in the CFP era. I would retire #1 at LSU before I retire #5. I would retire #2 before I retire #5. I would retire #22 before I retire #5. Did y'all watch Clyde Edwards-Helaire during that championship season? One of the issues with NIL is that it makes people feel far too important. Like who do you think you are? You think you are so important. Again, I don't care that you won a Heisman. It's also really crazy that you're demanding that LSU give you your Heisman Trophy back. So you, you feel so important that you want your history erased from your university over a jersey number?
