On today's episode of Our parents were absolutely correct when they said: "it's the damn phones" And we're absolutely correct when they said it's the damn phones. I wanna talk about two things. Number one: tact. Number two: being couth. If you've never heard of either or one of these things, I'm not at all surprised because A) no one seems to read anymore and B) they're characteristics and skills that no one seems to possess. When someone is couth it means that they are well-mannered. They are refined. They appear to have been raised correctly because they know how to conduct themselves. You've probably heard of the word "uncouth". It's just the opposite. It's someone that lacks manners, someone that cannot conduct themselves correctly. Tact as a skill. Specifically, it's a people skill. It's the ability to choose your words carefully such that you do not offend or upset other people. Sounds like something we we don't see a lot, right? Yeah. lacking SIGNIFICANTLY nowadays. You know why? Because people spend so much time on their damn phones and in social media comment sections that they've forgotten how to just be decent people and interact with people correctly and say the appropriate thing. It's why Lauren Thorndike or whatever her name is **Emily Thorndike** got on the witness stand for the Lindsay Clancy MURDER trial and said, "yeah, I live in Brooklyn, but I summer on Cape Cod because I'm just spoiled like that" Murder trial high stakes serious grave sad sobering And we're saying "because I'm spoiled like that" ???
