She lost the only home she’s ever known 💔 Our oldest dog, Daisy, is 8 years old and until a couple of weeks ago, she had spent her entire life with the same dad. Sadly, he was diagnosed with cancer and had to enter hospice care, leaving him with the devastating decision to surrender the girl he loved. 🥺 It’s heartbreaking when a dog who has been loved her entire life suddenly ends up in a shelter through no fault of her own. We promised Daisy’s dad that we would love and care for her until we find someone who can do the same for the rest of her years. ❤️ Daisy may be our oldest dog, but apparently no one has told her that she’s 8. 😂 She gets the zoomies, loves her squeaky toys, enjoys car rides and wants all the attention she can get. She’s a giant lap dog who will happily sit on your foot if your lap isn’t available. At 84 lbs., she is essentially one very happy, affectionate land seal. 🦭❤️ She loves people, is good with kids and has done well with other dogs. She appears to be housebroken, and our volunteers describe her as friendly, affectionate, playful and simply a “very good girl.” She could use a little work on her leash manners and does best with a harness. Daisy also recently had a small, wart-like growth removed from her back that appeared to be made up of fatty cells, and she is healing well. Otherwise, she is a healthy, happy girl with plenty of pep in her step. 😊 She has only been with us for a couple of weeks, and we really hope to find her a family before shelter life begins to take its toll. We see it far too often with bigger, older dogs who are overlooked week after week, and we don’t want that for Daisy. She spent her whole life knowing what it felt like to be someone’s beloved dog, and she deserves to have that again. 🙏❤️ If you can give Daisy the love and security she deserves for the rest of her years, please complete a pre-adoption application on our website (link in bio) and come meet her at the Humane Society of Broward County. We open daily at 11 a.m. at 2070 Griffin Road in Fort Lauderdale. Please share Daisy and help us keep the promise we made to her dad. ❤️
