Johnny was adopted yesterday. Last night, he was returned. First, we want to thank his adopter for giving him a chance. Sometimes a dog and a home simply aren’t the right fit, and that’s okay. Even a short time outside the shelter can teach us important things about what a dog needs, and Johnny’s adopter gave us information that can help us make a better match next time. She did more than anyone else did by coming in and taking him home. Johnny may do best with older children, continued training and structure, and possibly a more outdoor-style setup. He experiences fear stress and anxiety while he adjusts. Same with Jasper. Jasper still hasn’t gotten the chance to try a home at all. Right now, both boys are experiencing severe mental strain in the shelter. With the storm approaching and possible shelter closures, we are urgently looking for FOSTER homes to get them OUT through the weather. They are stressed out anxious pups and need help working thru that. They do not need to go together. Although they were found together, they are not bonded and can be fostered or adopted separately. They don’t even really like each other. This does not have to be forever. They just need somewhere safe to land while the weather passes. If they return to the shelter afterward, the team will reassess their mental and physical wellbeing and determine the best next steps. The adoption team is still working through the interest forms that have come in, but for now these boys desperately need a break from the shelter. If you are on Maui and can foster Johnny or Jasper, please come to Maui Humane Society. If you can’t foster, please keep sharing them. They still need us The adoption interest forms are below. mauihumanesociety.org/johnny mauihumanesociety.org/jasper #Maui #adoptme #viral #AdoptDontShop #hawaiitiktok
