I used to think saving was the goal. It’s not. Saving is important—but saving alone isn’t the same as building wealth. Think about it: You can cut your expenses, save every dollar you can, and still struggle to build significant wealth if your income never grows. That’s why I believe there are three important steps: 1. Save. Create margin and build your first capital. 2. Increase your income. Develop valuable skills, build a business, create something people need, or find better opportunities. 3. Invest. Put your capital into productive assets and let your money work for you over time. Saving creates the fuel. Income creates more fuel. Investing puts that fuel to work. I used to focus almost entirely on saving. But I’ve realized that when your income is small, there’s only so much you can cut. Sometimes the better question isn’t: “How can I save more?” It’s: “How can I create more value and increase my income?” But there’s something even more important to me. Jesus said: “For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.” — Matthew 6:21 Our greatest treasure isn’t money, investments, or possessions. Our greatest treasure is Christ. Build wealth wisely. Save. Earn. Invest. But never let money become your treasure. What do you think: is saving enough to become wealthy?
