Why are the younger siblings usually taller than older ones? And well, before I give you that answer, if you're the older sibling, please don't hate your parents for this. They probably love you just as much as they love your younger brother. However, they were younger, they were more inexperienced and they were more likely to have made you by mistake or happened unexpectedly. And well, they were more likely to be the oops, well, I guess we'll take it. So, um, people don't find out about their pregnancies in the first week, the second week, or sometimes even for the first couple of months, which is actually insane. And all of these things can shape the fetus, which is very important because a lot of people talk about genetics, they talk about, oh, my parents were this tall, or my parents were that tall. But it's about how the fetus can develop, right? So if they are deficient, if they didn't consume enough vitamin B9, which is important for neural tube defects over the first 12 weeks, or maybe they didn't consume enough protein, or didn't consume enough of these, these are all going to shape the fetus. And this is all obviously going to shape your genetics, right? So it's now changing your baseline to something worse. So maybe your parents were really tall, but you are short, probably that's the reason. They just didn't really do well with you. The point that I'm trying to make is habits shape a lot, right? And if you are drinking, or if you are smoking, or if you're not keeping yourself active, this is all going to have a grand effect on the fetus and how the fetus can develop. So, um, these are all things that can shape your trajectory, right? Well, the younger sibling usually has access to better resources, right? The likelihood of the pregnancy being unexpected or a mistake are going to be a little bit smaller. So the parents are going to be more experienced, so they're going to be able to provide them with better diet, the likelihood to provide them with better support, and pretty much all the right things that can help them to grow their tallest, right? So this is really why the younger siblings is usually taller than the older ones.
