Good child welfare supervision should create enough psychological safety for caseworkers to say, “I don’t know,” “I messed up,” or “I need help.” You can hold someone accountable for documentation, deadlines, decisions, and the families they serve without making them afraid to come to you when something goes wrong. Because caseworkers don’t need supervisors who only ask about overdue case notes and compliance.
