Before you head into another week of visits, court, documentation, phone calls, meetings, and everything else that somehow finds its way onto your plate, I need you to hear a few things. 🤎 You do not have to fix everything on Monday. Prioritize what truly needs you and give yourself permission to let the rest wait. Ask for help before you’re drowning. Needing support doesn’t mean you can’t do this job. Good caseworkers ask questions, consult, and lean on their team. And when a visit goes badly, a conversation gets uncomfortable, or a meeting doesn’t go the way you hoped, remember: one hard interaction does not mean you’re bad at this. Reflect, learn what you can, and keep going. Also, please take your lunch. Drink some water. Go to the bathroom. Step away for a minute. Your humanity does not become less important because your caseload is demanding. Finally, remember that some of the difference you make you may never get to see. A child may remember that you listened. A parent may remember that you treated them with dignity. A family may remember that you kept showing up. You don’t have to carry the whole week today. Just take care of the next thing in front of you. 🤎 — Your Casework Supervisor #caseworker #casemanager #ChildWelfare #fostercare #socialwork
