Everyone slags off the Ford Transit wet belts, do you know why they changed from a wet belt? They were originally Ford changed them to a wet belt to be more efficient, quieter, better on emissions. In reality, it's a rubber belt that's in boiling oil. This leads to the belt and it's been catastrophic engine failure. However, a lot of it is of maintenance, the incorrect oil being used, your wet belt be done. Ford intervals on changing your belt are six years or 100,000 miles. I personally advise six years or 80,000 miles maximum and service your van every 12 months, 10,000 miles as a minimum. If you want to do it more, it won't do any harm and a long time belt. Make sure you're garage that knows what using the right oil and the belt will last. To break down, happy life.
