Transformers Beast Wars Depth Charge is the 1998 Transmetal manta ray with a launcher hidden in every mode and a box that tells a different story than the show. This Ultra class Maximal converts three ways: robotic manta ray, robot, and the flight mode the package calls a space cruiser. The disc launcher in his chest fires in all of them, the Cybershark drone detaches into his handheld blaster, and the tip of his tail pulls off to become an Energon cutlass. A major misalignment with story is printed on the box. The 1998 bio makes him a commander leading a brave platoon for Optimus Primal. The show gave us the opposite, a loner who crossed space hunting one enemy, Rampage, the experiment called Protoform X. Deep cut: when this mold was redecoed for the 2003 Universe line, the designer pulled the colors straight from Boba Fett's ship. Which mode did yours live in, manta ray, space cruiser, or robot? Let me know. #transformers #BeastWars #DepthCharge #VintageToys #90stoys
