Last week I made a video about Birmingham restaurants that were below a 90 health rating. But this week I am making a video about Birmingham restaurants that are above a 90 health rating. However, do not let that 90 and above deceive you. And after going through at least 90 restaurants, I have learned that a restaurant can receive a 90 and above, but still have mold and the ice machines and soaps in the kitchen, wearing no hair net, even having fruit flies in the sink and around food prep areas. You can still receive a 90 and above. For example, Salud in Birmingham received a 97 health score rating. But their documentation stated that the food that's being served to the customers was being stored below sewer lines under the sink. There are some restaurants that will receive a 95 and above, but have all types of bugs in the kitchen. For example, Panera Bread inside of UAB. They received a 95, but the report stated that there were fruit flies and drain flies all in the kitchen. I honestly could go through all the restaurants that have received a 95 and above, but honestly, there would be no point. Just use your better judgment. Because a restaurant can receive a 99 and still not be up to par. So instead, I'm going to choose something that we all ingest, regardless if it's fast food, if it's a sit-down restaurant, if it's a gas station. Everyone's going to get some ice. The ice is what you need to avoid. The common factor in all 90 of these restaurants is that their ice machines held mold. Firehouse Subs, Subway, Chevron downtown, all have documentation that there is a massive amount of mold in their ice machines and their ice bins. But still received a 95 or above rating. Our grocery store, Meat Depot by Fresh Value, received a 96. But the report stated that they filled fly traps in the produce kitchen along with multiple dead flies on the counter. American Deli onmontclair road received a 95. However, they also had a shit ton of mold in their ice machines and their ice bins. So basically, eating out is a gamble in itself. Regardless if you eat somewhere with a 99, a 95, or an 85. It's nothing like eating food at home. And you never know what's going on behind closed doors. And the next time you get a drink, remember you're not just drinking the liquid, you're drinking the ice as well. And these are just some of the places that I covered. However, my next video will be places Birmingham parents take their kids that have a surprisingly low health score. Follow for more ❤️#health#foodsafety #RestaurantReview #greenscreen
