Here are five mentalities you need to unlearn if you truly want to grow in life. So there are certain mentalities you need to be very careful of when you see in other people, but more importantly, you should be worried when you start to see them in yourself. So as a brother, here are five mentalities you need to unlearn if you genuinely want to grow in life. The first one is the victim mentality. This is when everything that goes wrong in your life is someone else's fault. Your parents, your ex, the government, your friends, your childhood. I perfectly understand sometimes people genuinely hurt us, and sometimes life gives you disadvantages you did not choose. But at some point, you need to ask yourself, what am I going to do about this situation? Because sometimes you can be completely right about what someone did to you and remain stuck in hell because you gave them control over what happens to you. Getting out of the victim mentality is when you stop asking who did this to me and start asking, what can I do from here? No. 2, a crabs in a barrel mentality. You struggle to celebrate or support people who are progressing because somehow their progress makes you feel smaller. Your friend is being commended, instead of you being happy for them, you start looking for something negative to say about them. A colleague suddenly gets promoted, and all you can think of is how you can pull them down to your level. You grew up with someone, they start doing well online, and all you think of is who do you think you are? You see another person's progress is not evidence of your failure. You don't have to pull someone down to feel taller or better. This mentality usually stems from jealousy. Being jealous of people doing better than you. Get closer, learn, ask questions, and allow their progress to remind you of what's possible. No. 3, entitlement mentality. This is the mentality of constantly saying, oh, this is who I am. I'm not good at speaking, I'm bad with money, I'm not a business person, I can't do content creation. Be very careful about the identities you repeatedly give yourself because sometimes you're not describing who you are, you're simply describing who you've been so far. There are certain things you are bad at today, simply because you have not learned them yet. You are good at something today because you spent time to get better at it. Always remember that in order to grow, you first have to give yourself the permission to become someone you've never been before. Yes, something I really want you to think about. Which of these five mentalities have you noticed in yourself, not your friend, not your partner, not your colleague, but you yourself? Because self-awareness, ladies and gentlemen, are mature enough to stand in front of the mirror and say, this is the part of me that needs to change. Just think about this for a moment and share this with a brother or a sister who needs to see this. My name is Kwabena Afriyie Akoto-Bamfo. This is just a brotherly advice and I'm only looking out for you.
