Parents listen carefully. You can love your child deeply and still damage their future without realizing it. Not every wound comes from a physical injury. Some wounds come from words. Comparisons and the way a child is treated every day. And today, I want every parent to listen with an open heart. There are three habits you must be careful about. First, constantly criticizing your child. Correction is necessary. But if every mistake is followed by, you are useless, you can never do anything right. You will never become anything. Those words can stay in a child's heart for years. Correct the behavior, do not destroy confidence. Your child needs to know I made a mistake, not I am a mistake. Second, comparing your child to other children. Look at your brother. Why can't you be like her? Other children are doing better than you. Parents may say these words because they want their children to improve. But comparison can create shame, jealousy, and anger. Every child is different. Guide your child, teach your child, challenge your child. But do not make your child feel that they must be worthy of your love. A tree does not grow by looking at another tree. It grows when it is properly cared for. Third, providing money, but refusing to give your time. Yes, your children need food, they need education, they need clothes and a safe home. But they also need you. They need your attention. They need your encouragement. They need someone who will listen when they speak. Never become so busy building a future for your children that you forget to build a relationship with them today. And if you grew up with these habits, remember this: you do not have to repeat what hurts you. You can break the pattern. Learn to speak differently. You can love your children differently. You can become the parent you once needed. So ask yourself today, when my child remembers me years from now, what will they remember? Fear, criticism, or love? Let us pray. Heavenly Father, give every parent wisdom, patience, and understanding. Help us to correct our children without breaking their hearts. Teach us to speak words that build them. Give them our time with love and peace. Heal every child carrying pain from the past. And help us break every harmful pattern. In Jesus name, Amen.
