You have to make your own industry connections!!!! I say this with a lot of love. I do not have industry connections. And the video I just posted actually explains how the reason I was able to perform on Good Day New York is because one of the people working at the show found me on Instagram. One of the videos I posted. Like I have been shamelessly showing up on this app and other apps talking about how I wanna do music, blah blah blah. I'm from the Midwest. Like my parents are not in the entertainment business at all. My dad plays drums like for fun on the side. Um, I started completely from scratch in terms of networking. Been cold-emailing people, reaching out to them, asking if they would do industry chats with me. Like that's how I met the people who ended up playing in my band. It is tough to do, I wish I was a nepotism baby with connections, of course. But if you're using the fact that you don't have industry connections as a reason to not even try, you're just like a victim mindset, you know? We don't do that around here. Um, it is harder without inherent connections, but if you're in a place like New York or Chicago, a big city, anywhere in the city now because everyone has Zoom and phone calls, just ask people for networking chats. That's what I've been doing.
