We all love a good soda and it's even better when it's homemade naturally fizzy and packed with probiotics. So I'm officially starting my homemade soda series where each week I'll show you how to make gut-friendly soda from scratch, starting off with the classic flavor. Let's make cherry cola but without refined sugars and packed with probiotics, and packed with probiotics. So good. This Cherry Vanilla Cola tastes better than the grocery store and it's made with a ginger bug, a natural starter that creates natural carbonation adding gut-friendly probiotics. I've kept this one alive for a few months now and it gives me the best sodas to make this Cherry Cola. I'm using lots of fresh cherries and instead of brown sugar I'm using coconut sugar which gives the soda that deep sweet richness that reminds me of classic Cola. Once the cherry syrup is completely cooled, grab your ginger bug. The microbes in the ginger bug feed on the sugar in the syrup and produce carbon dioxide, natural fizzy carbonation. And ginger bug to a fermentation-safe bottle, then top it off with because it's summertime and my kitchen is warmer, fermentation moves much faster. So mine only took about a day to develop that perfect fizz. Once it's ready in the fridge for at least 24 hours before opening. This slows fermentation and helps calm the pressure inside the bottle. And that's how you make naturally fermented Cherry Cola right at home.
