I went in for a BLT, but I stayed for what was perhaps the best frozen beverage, not counting a pina colada, that I have ever had. This is Edith's, a New York City sandwich shop with two locations. I went to their counter shop in the West Village. They have a really interesting menu items, lots of creative twists on classic deli items and tons of house-made and locally sourced ingredients. A punch card for a free slushie after your eighth order and a box of totally random hot sauces. I grabbed the black truffle and stashed it away for later. Okay, now back to my newborn baby sandwich. It's their summer corn BLT and it is so good that I just got it last week and I have to come back. So the sandwich itself is toasted challah, smoked corn mayo, seasonal New York State heirloom tomatoes, and bacon, which is actually some of the best bacon I've ever had. And I love how every time you get the sandwich, the tomatoes are a different color, so a slightly different flavor, and no two sandwiches are the same. So every time you order, you get a little surprise each time you have one. And then for the slushie, tahini does happen to be one of my main food groups, so this tahini cold brew slushie did feel like it was a part of who I am. It was perfectly creamy against the slightly bitter coffee. And also, on a 90-degree day, turned out to be exactly what I didn't know I needed.
