I need you to stop overwatering

I need you to stop overwatering your Chinese money plants. And I'm here to show you how I got mine from this to this in 18 months. These plants are extremely prone to overwatering and root rot, so the key is to let her tell me when she's thirsty. Now I look at two things: I look at the soil and I look at the leaves. When mine needs water, the stems will start to droop. And then I do the taco test, where I gently try to fold a leaf in half. If the leaf is flexible and bends easily, it's time to water. If it's firm and resists gentle pressure, then give her another day or two. This is where I differ from a lot of care guides online: you might see recommendations to water when the top inch of soil is dry. However, I learned to let the soil get much, much drier. At first, try letting your plant get 75% dry before watering and go from there. And honestly, once I started letting my pilea dry out more in between waterings, she started growing like a weed. So if your pilea is dropping her leaves or the bottom leaves are getting yellow with black and brown spots, then you need to put down the watering can and give her space to breathe.
