So, my kids went back to school today and I use the beginning of the school year as kind of the second time to set goals or, you know, resolutions or whatever it is for the rest of the year. So if you're the kind of person who sets goals, I humbly submitted a list of suggestions for the rest of the year to materially level up your life in no particular order. When someone comes to mind, send them a text to let them know that you appreciate them. Take 5 grams of creatine every day, some even suggest 10 for mental, it makes your brain better. Send 10 emails to people that you admire offering to fly out for coffee and if someone says yes, go. Buy some Bitcoin, it will probably never be cheaper than it is right now. Optimize your sleep, blackout lights or shades, magnesium, blue light glasses before bed if you use your phone or stop using your phone. If you have the budget, get an Eight Sleep. Once a quarter, organize a dinner with 6 to 8 interesting people who don't know each other. Take them someplace fun or host, let them know why you picked each of them. We call that the 3-hour dinner. Implement an NSDR or meditation practice of some kind. It doesn't have to be every day, it can be for just 10 minutes. There's one I use on YouTube that's free, just Google NSDR. If you are married or in a serious relationship, plan a weekly date night, make it non-negotiable. Consider reading the news less. We were not made to process the pain of the entire world on a consistent basis. Consider unplugging in general, at least at times. Download Opal if you struggle with your phone, consider taking a digital Sabbath one day a week. Start sharing your best ideas consistently. Try once a week to start. If you don't know what to say, ask yourself what the you of 5 years ago would have wanted to know and just consider it a long-term investment in your career. Build out a personal CRM. Consider some version of 5-25-150, you can Google it, serve people as a practice. Two hours a week of zone 2, does not have to be in spurts, you can do it 10 minutes in the morning and 10 minutes at night. If you have kids, make a list of fun things to do and add to it whenever you hear or see anything neat and look at it once a week during your weekly review rhythm and consider doing one of them. Alternatively, consider doing a quest with them. So my son and I are trying to find the best burger in Chicago. Right now the current winner is Armitage Alehouse. Set your default meetings to be 25 minutes, 55 minutes, 85 minutes. If you manage people, resolve to become great at one-on-ones, I'm going to do another video on this soon. Consider taking up a hobby, ideally something that takes several years to master. Chess is a great one, language is a great one, Duolingo can help you out with both. Consider reading some of the great books, you can just Google great books and find a syllabus, there's a bunch of different examples. Learn how to use AI but use it for real, like install Claude Code, build something that you always have wished would have existed and kind of watch your mind get blown. At the same time, go outside, join an in-real-life club of some kind, pickleball or running, go meet people. Drink eight glasses of water a day. Go somewhere where you don't speak the language. I already said this, but implement a weekly review process. And write down an ambitious 10-year vision, one that is worthy of the next decade of your life.
