A manager who is unable to lead does not just make your job harder. It affects your performance review, your mental health, and your career trajectory. Here is what it actually looks like: 1️⃣ They correct you publicly. That is not feedback, it is a power move. 2️⃣ They micromanage every deliverable. Every slide, every email, every decision gets reviewed, revised and second guessed. Micromanaging does not produce better work. It produces people who are scared to make decisions. 3️⃣ They make you feel stupid for asking questions. You are supposed to not know everything as a junior. A good manager knows that. A bad one makes you feel otherwise. 4️⃣ They make every task feel like a fire drill. Everything is urgent. Nothing is actually prioritized. Poor prioritization from the top creates unnecessary stress on juniors. 5️⃣ They cannot make up their mind on a clear strategy. It changes constantly and the team never feels aligned. You cannot execute a strategy that does not exist. 6️⃣ They are incapable of having hard conversations or giving valuable feedback. Underperformers never get coached and high performers never get the recognition they deserve. 7️⃣ They play favorites visibly. Opportunities and exposure should not depend on who your manager likes most. 8️⃣ They disappear when the pressure is highest. The best managers show up when things are hard. The worst ones become suddenly unavailable. Experience and a title do not make someone a leader. Self awareness does. And you cannot teach that! Save this and send it to someone who needs to hear it!
