We were invited to try out a real American back yard BBQ this weekend. @Pa’s Real American BBQ hosted our family and it was such a treat! Think your rustic outdoor yard, pull up a chair and enjoy some delicious smoked brisket (our FAV), smoked bacon wrapped jalapeño poppers - delicious! Or their woman’s month special - 2 Burgers and chips for only R150! They are brand new and this is their first time running a “restaurant” so they are focused on delicious smoked meats and busy learning the restaurant ropes. Good food is worth the wait! The best way to find them is to google Pas American Bbq and follow Google Maps there. It’s in Lamercy - just off the M4. They only open Friday to Sunday and prefer if you can book in advance so they can make sure to prepare enough meat. This weekend they had to turn away customers as they ran out! LET ME TELL YOU, ONCE THE FOOD CAME OUT, WE WERE BLOWN AWAY. GRANDPA IS FROM AMERICA AND HE SMOKES ALL HIS OWN MEAT THE TRADITIONAL AMERICAN WAY. WE CHOSE TO SIT OUTSIDE WITH VIEWS OF THE BEAUTIFUL OCEAN. FOR STARTERS WE WENT FOR THE JALAPENO POPPERS THAT ARE WRAPPED IN BACON AND THEN SMOKED. OH MY GOODNESS, THEY WERE THE MOST UNUSUAL AND DELICIOUS POPPERS WE'VE EVER HAD. AND THEN THE CHEESY LOADED FRIES, SMOKED BACON, JALAPENOS, LOADS OF CHEESE SAUCE, THEY WERE FANTASTIC, TOO. THEY WANTED US TO TRY A VARIETY OF THEIR MENU, SO THEY BROUGHT US A PLATTER WITH ALL DIFFERENT TYPES OF THE MEAT THAT THEY HAD. THE PORK RIBS LITERALLY FELL OFF THE BONE. BUT THE HIGHLIGHT FOR ME HAD TO BE THAT SMOKED BRISKET, THE FLAVOUR, IT WAS FANTASTIC. THEY ARE RUNNING A SPECIAL WHERE YOU CAN ORDER TWO BURGERS WITH FRIES FOR JUST 150 RAND. We tried something really different this weekend. We were invited to Pa's Real American Barbecue in LaMercy. We arrived to quite a rustic farm kind of vibe and weren't sure what to expect. Let me tell you, once the food came out, we were blown away. Grandpa is from America and he smokes all his own meat the traditional American way. We chose to sit outside with views of the beautiful ocean. For starters we went for the jalapeno poppers that are wrapped in bacon and then smoked. Oh my goodness, they were the most unusual and delicious poppers we've ever had. And then the cheesy loaded fries, smoked bacon, jalapenos, loads of cheese sauce, they were fantastic, too. They wanted us to try a variety of their menu, so they brought us a platter with all different types of the meat that they had. The pork ribs literally fell off the bone. But the highlight for me had to be that smoked brisket, the flavour, it was fantastic. They are running a special where you can order two burgers with fries for just 150 Rand.
