2 countries, 1 trip, no flying in between. Italy, this is going to be a 17 night trip. In Italy we're going to hit Rome, Florence, Venice, and Milan slash Lake Como. Switzerland we're going to hit Zermatt, Interlaken, Lucerne, and Zurich to fly back home. Starting in Rome because that's the cheapest to fly to. 3 nights there. Here you'll get the ancient, romantic, energetic European vibe. Trevi Fountain, Colosseum, Spanish Steps, Vatican, beautiful sunsets, take a vespa tour. Honestly one of my favorite things I did there. From Rome you're going to take the train station to Florence only in an hour and a half. In Florence you're just going to stay 2 nights. More romantic, artistic, sophisticated, Tuscan Italy vibe. Visiting the Duomo, exploring the historic center, visit the gallery, have an iconic Tuscan wine dinner. In Florence you're going to take another train to Venice. The train is only 2 hours. So you're going to be there for 2 nights. Iconic city on water, visit the Basilica, the Saint Mark's Square, Rialto Bridge, canals, they're all over the place. Have dinners overlooking the canals, obviously take a little gondola ride. You can also visit the beach from Venice. I did that by taking one of the little boats. From Venice you're going to go back to the train station and head to Milan, just a 2 and a half hour ride. Now Milan is just 2 nights. You can see all you need to see in Milan in 1 day, which is the Duomo and the Galleria for shopping. For the second day in Milan, I would use that day to go to Lake Como. Literally a 40 minute or 60 minute train. When you're there at Lake Como, obviously you can hop around different lakes, beautiful mountain views, swimming, good food. Milan is super north, it's right by Switzerland. You can take a 3 and a half hour train ride to Zermatt, Switzerland. 3 nights there, and explore the village with incredible views, have Swiss chocolate, go on the 5 Lakes Trail. It's absolutely gorgeous. It is way pricier in Switzerland, so things might get limited. Zermatt to Interlaken is a 2 to 2 and a half hour train ride. Here you can take in the town, enjoy hiking, enjoy Hermont Park, don't know if I said that right. From Interlaken you can easily take 20 minute train to Lauterbrunnen. You can see the iconic falls, valley, villages, Swiss cafes, and go hiking. From Interlaken to Lucerne for 2 nights. You can take an hour and 50 minute train there. This is a definitely more elegant, peaceful, storybook Switzerland vibe. Visit old town, Chapel Bridge, waterfront, Lion Monument, so much. Next day in Lucerne you could also visit Mount Pilatus or Mount Rigi. Finally last stop, take a 1 hour train ride to Zurich, and a night here, and next day fly back home.
