Over 150 people killed, at least 34 Aussies missing after Nepal flash floods

It's said to have, the river that's running down the border between Nepal and Tibet is said to have risen to up to nine metres, caused by a collapsing glacier. It's being called an ice avalanche. We've just had an update from the Department of Foreign Affairs, which says it's aware of the 34 Australians missing and is urgently working to confirm their welfare, but it is possible that that number could rise. We know Nepal is an incredibly popular spot for an adventuring Australian who like to who likes to trek and hike in that area. Many of those missing may have been on tours or starting one. We know that the confirmed death toll right now is around 160. That number will no doubt get into the hundreds as the rescue effort ramps up. The Chinese military will be mobilised to help in the recovery efforts. We know helicopters have been struggling to get into those affected areas because there is still water around, and there is a concern that there could be a secondary flash flooding event, with areas of the river still lodged with debris. Australians in the area are being urged to look and watch the advice from local authorities and keep updated.
