Xbox CEO Asha Sharma just announced a brand new disc to digital feature and it completely destroys PlayStation's greedy no physical discs drama. Starting next week on Xbox, you insert your physical game disc into your console and it instantly grants a full digital copy to your account for free. No rebuy, no extra fees. You get Xbox Cloud Gaming and play anywhere unlocked immediately. You can then lend it to a friend so you can both enjoy the game day 1, sell it, or do whatever you want with it. Basically, a digital copy of any disc game becomes instantly available in the library forever for anyone that has a disc copy of the game. And this is an absolute killer for PlayStation because it sounds too good to be true for such a greedy company. And while PlayStation is making us pay full price just to rent a temporary license, Xbox is literally letting us turn physical discs into digital access while protecting physical ownership. Xbox isn't just listening to the community, they're outright roasting PlayStation's entire business model right now. This does sound great and gamers friendly, but I think Microsoft will be losing a lot of money because of it. A lot of scalpers will start using this to their advantage. Something like buying so many games, adding them to a single account, and then sell it and sell the discs. I hope there could be a way to prevent this from happening, but we shall see.
