1600 LIFE SAVED PRINCIPAL'S TIMELY EVACUATION SAVED 1,600 STUDENTS FROM DEVASTATING NUWAKOT FLOOD Principal Rajendra Dawadi moved students out and toward higher ground before floodwaters entered the school.

Tribhuvan Trishuli Secondary School in Nuwakot, established in 2000 BS, has 1,643 students. Principal Rajendra Dawadi said a flood warning arrived during morning prayer, and students who were inside the school were evacuated before the flood entered. He and another staff member were among the last to leave. The flood later caused severe damage to the historic school. However, it would be inaccurate for now to say that all 1,643 students have been confirmed safe, because the school administration said the whereabouts of some students who had already left, were travelling to school, or were elsewhere were still being verified.
