I work in artificial intelligence and I think that we should build more data centers. That's not a joke. This is not satire. And a lot of you probably already think now, I'm kind of, kind of an evil person that I want to destroy the beautiful views, like the place behind me, of the water that's used for drinking, instead for cooling data center chips. First, let me start by saying that I get it. The so-called techno overlords haven't exactly been friendly to the average American over the past 30 years. But at the same time, wealth inequality has absolutely exploded. Meanwhile, these weirdos at the top control our elections by funding them with super PACs and then tell you what they know what's best for your life. And data centers, which are coming into your backyard, are the physical manifestation of that wealth inequality. And depending on what you're reading, you may believe they're going to take your drinking water or make it contaminated and raise your electricity prices. And the thing that'll go into that data center is going to replace addressing these quickly. The water consumption of data centers is way overblown. The person who initially gave the first figure actually has corrected and said they messed up by like 1,000 X. Data centers consume far less water in America than almonds or golf courses. Next, moving on to electricity. A lot of these data centers are being built behind the meter, meaning they aren't connecting to the grid, which means they aren't using the power that you're using or paying for yet. And many smart legislators are making it such that when they do connect to the grid, that it'll actually lower the rate. Your electricity prices will likely go down as a result of data centers, not up. This is because we're adding more power to the grid. And lastly, arguably most importantly, what's actually going on in the data centers? I recently did an episode of a podcast called Lebanese Physicians, where I talked about how AI is going to affect medicine. Obviously, data centers are used for not all, but it's one that I'm particularly excited about. We already are starting to see major breakthroughs in drug discovery for things like cancer. Surgical robotics are becoming far more advanced. Medical imaging is going to be able to detect anomalies at much higher accuracies than humans ever could. One that I was just talking about with my girlfriend today is robotics. Both of our grandparents are very old and require basically 24/7 care. This is very expensive. Both of our grandparents live in other countries where that is cheaper than in America. The truth is is that many older Americans die because they live alone, because their family can't afford that kind of 24/7 care and then they fall and they're on the floor for God knows how long before somebody checks up on them. This is obviously incredibly sad. Imagine if there was a humanoid robot. Now, bear with me, it sounds evil, but literally, listen to the words I'm saying. They can help those who you care about into their later years. Can get them into and out of bed, bathe them, make sure they took their medicine. That sounds like a dystopia. Remind yourself again that they could have been on the floor for 48 hours. We are heading towards a better future with technology.
