This is gonna piss a lot of people off, but if you let your cat outside, I think you're MAGA. Sorry, I think you're MAGA. Because if you let your indoor cat outside, it tells me three things about you. Number one, you don't care about your local ecosystem, right? Dude, cats are responsible for billions of bird deaths worldwide. A recent study by the Smithsonian Institution and the US Fish and Wildlife Service estimated that domestic cats kill about 2.4 billion birds and 12.3 billion small mammals each year in the lower forty-eight states. This is far higher—and probably more accurate—than previous figures, and likely exceeds all other sources of human-related losses of these animals. That makes it a major bird conservation concern. They wipe out local bird populations. It for fun. Not even to eat them. You and including endangered ones and. And the toxoplasmosis also kills things like endangered seals in Hawaii. Do you not care about that? If not, it's giving me MAGA vibes, right? Number two, you don't care about your animal, right? Cats that go outside have significantly lower lifespans than indoor only cats. Significantly. Right, because why? They go outside, fights with other cats, they spread what basically the equivalent of cat AIDS, right? They get injured, by coyotes, by cars*, the list goes on. Why don't you care about that? It's giving me MAGA vibes. And finally, it's often times just an excuse for of pet parenting, right? Dude, you just cat outside so it will stop it whines and whines and whines. It tries to bolt out the door. You need to prevent that as a responsible pet owner. Right? And I this claim from pet owners go, to keep them inside. No, it's not. Cats are an invasive species. Apex predator. They belong inside. Wanna deal with keeping them inside. Right. So all things combined, what do they have in common? Me, me, me. I don't care except myself. That's why it gives me MAGA vibes.
