The ACTUAL Reasons Why Gas Is So Expensive In California (it's not bc of Newsom)

If you think the high gas prices in California are because of Gavin Newsom? Oh, you're dumb. Room temperature IQ. Because it just tells me you don't do your own research and/or you just parrot what you hear on right wing news organizations and mansphere content creators. Alright, let me break it down for you. The reason why we have high gas prices in California are for two reasons, not including the high cost of oil. Separate reasons. Number one, we have our own special formulation of gasoline. And guess what? Spoiler alert! It wasn't because of Gavin Newsom. Yeah, it was because of then Republican Governor Pete Wilson in the fuckin 90s, dude. This is not you have a Republican to thank for higher gas prices and coincidentally lower pollution. Anyways. Another thing I see people talk about is oh, oh, the high gas taxes in California. High gas tax. (Unintelligible right winger noises) Slow your roll. The reason why high gas tax California voters. In place, alright. In 2017, there was a law passed by then Governor Jerry Brown, not Gavin Newsom, to raise the pay for things like infrastructure and and road maintenance. And then a bunch of Republicans put a ballot initiative on on uh for the election to repeal that gas tax, and it got destroyed in the in 2018, right? Like 60% of voters rejected the repeal of the gas tax. Cause Californians are two steps ahead. Alright? So. So next time you come in smack about my state, do some research please. California forever.
