Remember this beautiful client? 🤍 She came to me after having black box dye for YEARS, and her hair was already extremely tired, dry, and fragile. During our first session, we knew we couldn’t push her hair too far. Could I have tried to make her lighter? Sure. But keeping the hair on her head and protecting its integrity will ALWAYS come before getting the perfect color in one appointment. Now she’s back for her next session. ✨ We gave her a good cut and decided to ONLY attempt lightening around the top and her part — not her entire head — because her hair simply isn’t ready for that yet. And guess what? It didn’t lift as much as we hoped. The second I saw her hair getting too tired and dry, I STOPPED. And I’m completely okay with that. This is what I want everyone to understand about Grey Blending: IT IS A PROCESS. Every head of hair is different. Every color history is different. And black box dye that has been there for years doesn’t magically disappear in one or two appointments. We may have to go slowly, little by little, session by session… but the goal is to get her there with healthy hair still on her head. 🤍 Her journey isn’t finished yet.
