🇽🇰 Gjeravica Peak was the official highest point in Kosovo until recently when it was discovered it’s actually the 2nd-highest pount of the country 😅 Still, it’s the highest peak *fully within* Kosovo, and it’s an AWESOME hike. It’s an optional branch-off trail from the popular Peaks of the Balkans loop, reachable from Doberdoll, Albania (via Valbona) by foot (7 hours), or from Valbona by car (2 hours). It took about five hours up-and-down and had ~3,000-feet of elevation gain. I’d recommend hiking Gjeravica with a guide, as the road up to the trailhead requires a 4x4 vehicle and takes about 50 minutes from the nearest town of Junik. It also didn’t seem incredibly well-marked, though that could’ve been because of the fog. For accommodation, I’d recommend one of the guesthouses in the small village of Gropa e Erenikut at the trailhead, or in the cool city of Gjakova 1-1.5 hours away.
