I got tired of looking at a car payment every month, so I started treating my auto loan like something I wanted GONE. 😂 I started paying aggressively, making payments every 2 weeks, putting extra money toward principal, and watching my payoff amount instead of just waiting for the loan to run its course. What started as a 72-month auto loan is now being paid off in roughly half the time. And this is why I keep telling people: your minimum payment is the requirement, not necessarily the strategy. Before making extra payments, check how YOUR lender applies additional payments and whether you need to specifically select principal-only.
