A man claims that the oxtail meal he bought from a Houston restaurant appeared to contain kangaroo tail. The customer became suspicious after looking closely at the bones in his meal. He said real oxtail bones are usually round, while kangaroo tail bones can have a more pointed, star-like shape. The man also explained that he had worked on a farm before, so he was familiar with different animals and cuts of meat. Based on his experience, he did not believe the meat served to him was oxtail. After he questioned the workers, they did not argue with him and quickly returned his money. This response made him even more suspicious. Although there has been no official test confirming what kind of meat was in the meal, the incident started an online debate because oxtail can be expensive, while kangaroo meat can be cheaper. Some people wondered whether restaurants might replace oxtail to reduce costs. Others said the bone shape alone was not enough to prove anything. The man later added that many packages labeled as oxtail in supermarkets contain bones that look similar to kangaroo tail.
