I want your brutally honest opinion. What two cooking content creators do that drive you absolutely crazy? What makes you immediately scroll? Or what makes you stay and decide to watch? I'm a cooking content creator on multiple platforms and I recently hit 100,000 followers on TikTok. Which honestly is still crazy for me to even fathom. One thing that's helped me get there, I actually take what people say like constructive criticism and I decide, okay, is that just a mean comment? Or is it something I can actually fix? I also look at other cooking content creators and what people say on their platforms. So early on, I heard a lot of people commenting that they want the full recipe in the caption. Since then, I have always had the full recipe in the caption. I've also tried storytelling. I feel like a lot of people don't like long stories. They want you to get to the recipe instead of having like a super long video. And probably the biggest thing I've noticed is they want your recipe to actually turn out. So since I started creating my own recipes, I make sure they are proven and tested before I would ever post them. Trust me, I have had a lot of failures that never get posted. I've also learned that there's a lot of things that will set people off. Put a can of cream of anything soup in a recipe and there are people ready to fight you in the comments. Meanwhile, tater tot casserole is one of my husband's favorite meals. I definitely try to be mindful of what people want while also staying authentic. I mean, you guys, I'm just a home cook. I didn't even fall in love with cooking until my kids got older and I had a lot more time. Now I have four kids all in their 20s, which is exactly why I make easy step-by-step recipes for people that are still learning how to cook. So now that there are 100,000 of you here, I really want to hear it. I want to know what you love, what you hate, and what you wish cooking content creators would do differently. Add the water, brown sugar, pumpkin purée, sweetened condensed milk, pumpkin pie spice, and salt to a medium saucepan. 2. Whisk until smooth and cook over medium heat until it reaches a gentle simmer. 3. Simmer gently for 6–8 minutes, stirring often, until the sauce is glossy and slightly thickened. Don’t let it come to a hard boil. 4. Remove from the heat and stir in the vanilla extract. 5. Let cool, then transfer to a jar or airtight container. Refrigerate for up to 2 weeks. The sauce will thicken as it chills, so stir or warm slightly before using. VANILLA WHIPPED CREAM Ingredients: • 1 cup cold heavy whipping cream • 2 tablespoons powdered sugar • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract Instructions: 1. Add the heavy whipping cream, powdered sugar, and vanilla to a mixing bowl. 2. Beat with a hand mixer or stand mixer on medium-high speed for about 2–3 minutes, until soft to medium peaks form. TO MAKE 1 PUMPKIN SPICE LATTE • 2–3 tablespoons pumpkin spice sauce • Espresso or strong coffee • 1 cup steamed milk • Vanilla whipped cream • Pumpkin pie spice or cinnamon, for topping Stir 2–3 tablespoons of pumpkin spice sauce into your espresso or strong coffee. Add the steamed milk, top with homemade vanilla whipped cream, and finish with a sprinkle of pumpkin pie spice or cinnamon. For an iced version, combine the pumpkin spice sauce with espresso or strong coffee, add cold milk and ice, then top with whipped cream. The pumpkin spice sauce keeps refrigerated for up to 2 weeks.
