American artist, designer and engineer Chuck Hoberman creates kinetic structures that transform through geometry and mechanical movement. His work sits at the intersection of art, mathematics, architecture and engineering. In Nested Loops, created for the Museum of Mathematics (MoMath) in New York, a network of articulated geometric elements continuously expands, contracts and changes configuration. The sculpture is built from interconnected rigid pieces and rotating joints. As one section moves, that motion travels through the larger structure, creating a synchronized transformation where simple mechanical rules produce complex geometric patterns. #artist #art #niche #avantgarde #math
