Why it worked

The creator's relatable frustration with the perceived overconsumption and high price of a luxury item, contrasted with her own financial realities, likely resonated with viewers who are also budget-conscious. The use of humor and a conversational tone made the critique engaging and shareable.

Summary

The creator expresses disbelief and frustration over the high price of a £300 notepad, comparing it unfavorably to more practical investments like stocks. She questions who would pay such a price for a notepad, suggesting that more affordable options are available at stores like WHSmiths or on Amazon. The creator also reflects on her own busy work schedule and financial priorities, contrasting them with the perceived extravagance of the luxury notepad.

Structure

1Expressing shock at the £300 notepad price
2Questioning the value and target audience for such an expensive item
3Comparing it to more sensible financial investments
4Reflecting on personal work ethic and financial struggles
5Concluding that the notepad is an unreasonable purchase

Product placement

WHSmiths: a store that sells stationery and other goods. It ACTS as a place where the creator suggests buying a notepad. Removing it would not change what happens in the video. Amazon: an online marketplace. It ACTS as a place where the creator suggests buying a notepad. Removing it would not change what happens in the video. Grace Beverly's planner: a planner product. It ACTS as an example of a successful planner that the creator is comparing her own situation to. Removing it would not change what happens in the video.

Why are people offended and think I’m a hater, genuinely get yourself into WHSmiths or on Amazon if you want a notepad / Filofax, you DO NOT NEED this Maybe If you have a lot of money yes, and you like luxury, I get that, but she’s not built her audience to splurge on a luxury notepad PLS If it was £20 I would’ve got it, investing and planning this out like Grace Beverly’s planner Maybe I should just go to work #isobellorna #notebook #notepad #filofax #overconsumption

Being gaslit at 6am thinking £300 is okay for a notepad. Guys, stop gaslighting me. Thinking 300 pounds for a notepad is okay. It's too early. It's 6 AM. I've woken up and I feel like the worst person in the world to be speaking up and saying, 300 pounds for a notepad, seems a little bit pricey. If you ask me, 400 pounds for a notepad is absolutely insane. Who's paying? Who's paying 300 pounds for a notepad? Let me be real with you, you can find the exact same one on Amazon, just because it's got her name against it. I'm not hating. Like, I love her. I said this is an after. I literally love Isabella Lorna, but 300 pounds for a notepad. It's outrageous. I don't think her own growth and her having a Filofax notepad would change her life. To be completely honest, I don't think it would. Yes, it's an investment piece, but who's investing? They're spending 300 pounds on a notepad. You better put that in stocks and shares and watch that 300 pounds grow rather than a notepad. You'll probably write in three times. Couple of tricks, couple of to-do list, couple of checklist. How funny is that? Like, couple of little checklist and you have to pay for the refill papers. And to go to Tesco and get a pack of pad. I don't know. I feel like I'm really missing the mark. And I'm so sorry. I promise. I really want our women entrepreneurs to do so well for themselves, but 300 pound Filofax notepad isn't gonna get my money. And to be completely honest, it shouldn't get your money. But unless you're like 300 pound is spare change to you, which I don't think there's a world in this day and age, I've actually got four jobs trying to hold down the fort. I don't know how I ended up with four jobs because I wanted to work less this summer. Turns out I've actually worked more this summer than I've ever worked in my life. Oh, Grace. This is not the time for you. But I don't know, she's clearly smashed it and she's done really well for herself. So maybe I should shut the hell up and go back to my job. My love, save the pennies and you'll buy another.
