At work, eat a salad for lunch.
Few hours later my stomach starts to feel funny.
I think it's just gas and tough it out.
By the end of my shift it had gotten worse. I decide to drive myself to the er, 45 minutes away.
By the time I get there I can barely walk. I'm in tears, partly from pain and partly because I'm so embarrassed a little toot is taking me down.
Get seen, pump me full of morphine and do a ct scan. It's my appendix.
Call my mom in a haze telling her I'm about to go into emergency surgery, no worries, I'm alone yada yada yada.
At this point it's close to midnight. My mom rushes to the er and makes it there as they're wheeling me back for surgery. Cool, at least I got to see her before.
Surgery is a success. I'm discharged as soon as I can toot. Home the next afternoon.
Fast forward two weeks, I can't poop. I haven't pooped in almost a week. Thought it was the pain meds so I stopped taking them and took LOADS of stool softener.
Nothing. Tried an enema, nothing. At this point I can't even eat because the pressure is so bad.
I start throwing up bile. Go back to the same ER. They think I'm just plugged up from pain meds but do a ct scan anyway. Just to be safe.
My intestines were stapled wrong after my appendectomy. Causing a huge blockage and making my intestines swell so bad the doctors said I had maybe 3 more hours before they died.
Rushed off into another emergency surgery. They keep me for three days this time just to be sure.
That's also when I found out I have one giant kidney. But I'm alive and still scared of gas pains.
