This was definitely one of those “are we actually doing this?” moments. 😂🏜️ Sandboarding through the Libyan Desert on the Egyptian side was an experience I’ll never forget. The dunes were absolutely HUGE. Photos and videos honestly don’t show just how high they are. Even getting to our sandboarding locations was an adventure. Flying down those dunes in the 4WD had my heart racing! 😂 There were moments I genuinely wondered how we didn’t end up on the roof. I suppose that’s where having experienced local drivers who know the desert tracks comes in handy! Because we were travelling through a more remote area closer to the Libyan border, our trip also included a police escort as an added safety precaution. It definitely made you realise just how far away from the usual tourist spots we were. But what an experience. We met some great people along the way, saw landscapes that looked like something straight out of a movie, and then somehow convinced ourselves to stand on a board and slide down those massive dunes. 😂 The Libyan Desert is so much more than endless sand too. Depending on where you explore on the Egyptian side, there are incredible desert landscapes, oases, rock formations and scenery that feels completely untouched. Scary at times? Absolutely.
