President Donald Trump has shared an AI-generated concept for a next-generation US Space Force uniform, drawing both praise and criticism online. The image, posted on Truth Social, said the design was inspired by the “discipline and functionality” of the uniforms in the 1997 film Starship Troopers. It remains unclear whether the concept is being formally considered by the Space Force. Critics compared the dark uniform, military cap, high boots and belt to clothing worn by Nazi-era SS officers and questioned the decision to reference a film intended as a satire of fascism and militarism. Director Paul Verhoeven has described the society depicted in Starship Troopers as a “fascist utopia” whose attractive surface conceals a darker reality. Supporters, meanwhile, praised the concept as sharp, futuristic and appropriately distinctive for the newest branch of the US military.
