Do not take hair, nails, and BECARefUL taking vitamins I never thought this would happen ! with organ failure. Yellow as a ducking Minion. Like, you see that stuff? My skin's ducking yellow, my pee's ducking yellow. I'm jaundice as they couldn't figure out what was wrong with me. apart from me needing my gallbladder removed now, my liver is, like, through the ducking roof, and they thought I had hepatitis. everything was, like, negative, negative, negative. They're like, "Have you started any new medicine?" I'm like, "No." Have you started a multivitamin or vitamins?" And I'm like, "Well, I'm on these vitamins because I've lost weight and I'm going ducking bald, it didn't click to me to be like, oh, I started a hair, nails, and growth. So today, my GI doctor came and he's like, "Have you started a hair growth vitamin?" And I'm like, "Yeah. So we look it up. Basically, he's like, "Yeah, you induced liver failure." Be careful. Be very careful doing these vitamins or these supplements. i am so sorry that this happened to you. When I saw your video, there were a few things that I immediately thought every single person, if you're taking a supplement, considering taking a supplement should know. Plus, at the end of the video, I have a free resource that you can look up every supplement, every medication that you might be taking. I'm Dr. Bayo. I'm a board certified Family Medicine physician and health advocate. First, it's important to know that all supplements aren't created equal, and unfortunately, it can affect your health in more ways than you expect. So the first thing I always recommend is to check with your doctor and get a blood test. This will give you a baseline of what is normal for your body before you add anything to it. Second, your body makes certain vitamins on its own, specifically vitamins A, D, E, and K, and these are fat soluble, meaning they are stored in your body rather than flushed out. So taking too much of what your body already makes can unfortunately build up over time and cause liver injury. Specifically vitamin A and E have been known in high doses to cause liver toxicity. Now, here's the free resource that I was talking about. It's called LiverTox, and it's by the NIH, and you can look up any supplement or medication and see its known effects on the liver. I just hope that you get better soon, and I am so grateful for you sharing your story. You're gonna help so many people know that not all supplements are created equal.
