The Corner House Cafe

2 videos

Why it worked

The video leverages the 'day-in-the-life' aesthetic and the novelty of a 'pay-what-you-can' local business model to create a compelling, authentic narrative that feels personal rather than like a traditional advertisement.

Summary

The creator documents the process of preparing canned lattes for her new business, 'The Corner House Cafe', using a Breville espresso machine. She sets up a 'pay what you can' porch stand to sell these drinks to her local community.

Structure

1Opening the porch stand
2Brewing espresso with Breville
3Filling and sealing canned lattes
4Setting up the porch fridge
5Explaining the pay-what-you-can model

Product placement

Breville (a) ACTS: The espresso machine is operated to grind beans, tamp, and brew espresso. Removing it would change the entire video. The Corner House Cafe (a) ACTS: The creator labels her business as 'The Corner House Cafe' on the signage and labels, and the video demonstrates the production of canned lattes for this business. Removing it would change the context of the video.

Transcript

It's 4:30 and entirely way too early. Let's make some coffee. So loud. Now we do this a billion more times. Here is the setup. Make a whole ton because I don't know what the turnout is going to be, but we have cookie butter on top, toasted marshmallow, and pumpkin cinnamon roll. So excited. It's kind of like a pay what you can, so I'm very excited to see the turnout. I'll keep you all updated.
