The Artist William Cobbing creates sculptures, performances and videos that explore the human body, touch and our physical relationship with materials, particularly clay. In many of his best-known works, performers’ heads and bodies are completely covered by large masses of wet clay. Faces disappear, identities become uncertain, and the performers communicate through touch, pressure and movement instead. Hands push into the material, reshape another person’s head, or merge two bodies together. Because the clay remains soft, the sculpture never reaches a final form every gesture destroys one shape while creating another. #artist #art #niche #weird #avantgarde
