Austin’s newest Mexican restaurant is officially open, and we had such a good night at Alteño inside Austin’s tallest building. ✨ Created by Chef Johnny Curiel, Alteño is inspired by the flavors and traditions of Los Altos de Jalisco, Mexico, where he spent much of his childhood. You can truly taste that influence in the food. The tacos tasted like the ones you’d get in Mexico! On our table — Pan de elote, which was genuinely life-changing 2 Taco de ribeye Taco gobernador Enkolada de pato New York steak Everything was beautiful, but I would absolutely go back for that pan de elote alone. You smear it with a butter then scoop it with a spoon. I could sit there and eat the whole thing!
