One year ago today, I decided I was going to give this content creator thing a try. 🥹 Not long after that, I stood in this kitchen and made my old-fashioned chocolate fudge… and that little video became my first viral video. So today, I recreated it. Same dress. Same jewelry. Same hair. I even started it with the same words. 😂 Back then, some of y’all started calling me “The Fudge Lady.” We eventually settled on Salt, Sugar, and Stories, but I will wear The Fudge Lady title with PRIDE because this right here is still the best fudge you’ll ever put in your mouth. 😂🤎 If you know, YOU KNOW. Your grandma knows. Your grandpa knows. It’s the best! I had no idea where any of this would go when I started a year ago. I just knew I wanted to show up and try. And here we are, 365 days later. So there really was only one way to celebrate. We’re making fudge, y’all. 🤎 Directions Mix the sugar and cocoa together FIRST until they’re really well blended. Add the evaporated milk and stir everything together thoroughly, making sure there is NO dry sugar or cocoa hiding anywhere on the bottom, edges, creases or crevices of that pot before you ever put it on the heat. Put it over medium heat. On my electric stove, that’s about a 6, but every stove is different. Now cook it, stirring almost constantly. You can walk away for a second, but don’t go folding laundry, y’all. 😂 This takes me around 45 minutes. You’ll notice two different boils. The first is a lighter, frothy boil that rises pretty high in the pot. Eventually that settles down and you’ll get the second boil. It becomes darker, glossy and shiny, almost like bubbling lava. That’s when you know you’re getting close. When you can drag your spoon across the bottom of the pot and it starts leaving little valleys where you can see the bottom, I cook it about 5 more minutes. If you’re using a candy thermometer, I take mine off at about 233–234°F. As soon as it’s ready, take it off the heat and add your 2 sticks of butter, vanilla and pecans. Stir it together, pour it into your prepared pan, and let it set for about 30–45 minutes. #Recipe #oldfashioned #fudge #cooking #chocolate
