Going to Paris in October. These are five key things you need to know. Hi, I'm Kat, your France travel- obsessed friend who has been to Paris 18 times and here's what you need to know about visiting Paris in October. Number one, let's talk about October weather. Average highs in Paris are around 57 to 66 degrees Fahrenheit or 14 to 19 degrees Celsius and the average lows are around 47 to 53 degrees Fahrenheit or 8 to 12 degrees Celsius. The average days of significant precipitation is eight days. And you get between 10 to 11 hours and 40 minutes of daylight each day. These are averages. And if you aren't aware, this year has been a super El Niño, which accounts for some of the extreme weather France has been having. It will likely be a very wet fall! That this fall is going to be a really wet one. As far as what to wear, comfortable shoes are a must, like sneakers or waterproof or water-resistant boots. Jeans or trousers are great to have. And layers are also great, especially a trench coat for rain can be helpful. And pack that umbrella. Number two are October events. There are some great events in October in Paris, including the iconic Fete des Vendanges in Montmartre, which is the Montmartre Grape Harvest Festival. There's also the Jazz Sur Seine, the Festival de l'Automne, and Paris Fashion Week for womenswear and even the Steelers versus Saints NFL game in Paris later in October. Number three are French school holidays. France has their Toussaint or All Saints' Day school holidays that begin on October 18th and go until November 1st, meaning museums and things in Paris will likely be busier with both locals and other French families visiting. So book things well in advance if you're visiting during that time. Number four, spooky season activities in Paris. While Paris and France aren't huge on Halloween, that doesn't mean you can't enjoy spooky season here with things like a visit to the catacombs, a haunted tour of Père Lachaise or even a haunted tour of Paris at night. And number five is the time change. France falls back earlier than the US with daylight savings, meaning the time change is in October this year. This year it is on October 25th, so be sure to adjust your clocks accordingly while you're here during that time. Comment "October" for my full guide to visiting Paris in October!
