One year ago
I stopped IVF at 42
and decided I wasn't
having kids.
What happened after
is the part
no one talks about
I thought I was closing
the door on my life.
I was closing the door
on a version of me who
no longer fit
Even I expected this to be
a grief story.
What I couldn't have expected
was that it would become my
glow up, inside and out
I've traveled to places this year
I never would have gotten
to see if I was still chasing
that plan, because the time,
the money and my body
finally belonged to me again
I'm dating again, and actually
enjoying it.
Because now it's with intention
and self trust I never had before.
Anyone who doesn't like me for
exactly who I am, isn't for me.
Mixed signals, misaligned goals or
ambiguity aren't a puzzle for me
to solve. They're a sign to walk away.
And I don't play games or
pretend to care less than I do.
I know who I am and what I will accept.
For the first time in my adult life.
I stopped waiting for the
right time to do anything,
because IVF taught me
what a privilege it is to
even have time.
I say yes to the big things
and the small ones now
I'm bolder than I've ever been.
I accept things as they are and
I keep moving. I own my mistakes
and I take accountability for my
own peace, even when it doesn't
go both ways
I started making myself a priority.
I leaned into movement, skincare and
learning more about makeup, not for
anyone else, just because it reminds
me to invest in myself and genuinely
makes me feel incredible.
It's healed me more than I expected
this year and become one of my
biggest passions and my best form
of self care.
IVF showed me exactly who was
really there and who wasn't. And it
taught me to let go of the
ones who weren't and to be
more intentional about reciprocity.
The ones who kept me afloat when
I was drowning?
I loved those people before, but I
will never forget who walked that
path beside me, and I'm all in with
them, fiercely, for life.
I could never have predicted this
would be where I am one year after
stopping IVF and deciding to be
childfree by circumstance.
Happier, healthier, and building a
life I love for the first time
in my entire adult life.
This is what happens when you
choose yourself, whether that's
after infertility, divorce,
a bad relationship, or just deciding
to stop chasing a life that isn't
happening and start building one
that actually will.
This is available to every woman.
We just need to see that we're all
doing this, together, and that it's
possible. If this sounds like you,
welcome to my corner of the internet.
