Cardi B said in one of her interviews that there are so many people with the look, the talent, the skill set, and they never get anywhere because they're lazy. And not only was she right, but I'd like to take it a step further because I think that if you are pursuing the music industry specifically, you have to be a little bit insane. You. You literally have to be a little bit off your mf rocker to wanna do this shit. And let me tell you why the f I say that. Two months ago, I got booked as a headliner for a show in Durham, North Carolina that's coming up tomorrow. From the minute I got this booking, I've been hitting the ground running. It's a all girl line up. I make every girl on the line up their own individual flyer. I make a promo video for us. I teach myself how to run meta ads. Literally about to pull my f-ing hair out in Starbucks trying to learn how to run meta ads. But I run some meta ads. I come up with some contest ideas. I buy gift cards for the prizes for the contest. Even though I'm doing all this promo online, the tickets aren't really moving. So I'm like, okay, we got a double down. Let's actually get in the streets, reach the people. I print out over 200 flyers. Only one of the other girls on the line up was able to Pull up and help me. But we pull up. We pass out flyers on central's campus. I literally was rapping on NCCU campus to get people's attention. We go to downtown Raleigh, we pass out flyer's down there. A couple of days before we pass out the flyers, I have to go to the E.R. Because I have, like, an allergic reaction to something that I ate, and I think being out in public, like, irritated it even more. So now I have, like, a sinus respiratory thing going on. As we're passing out the Flyers, I sprained my ankle, like, in my heels. But I just take my heels off and continue to pass out flyers. So for the past 72 hours, I have been slathering myself in Vicks vapour rub, wrapped up my ankle, having it iced for majority of the day, and drinking hot tea like a maniac. This morning, the day before the show, two people from the lineup decide they wanna drop out. I go check the ticket sales. Five tickets have been sold. The venue can hold up to 200 people. Despite the sinus infection, despite the sprained ankle, despite the people dropping out, despite the only five tickets selling, I still wanna do the show. I genuinely want this shit bad enough that I will drive two hours to this show and perform my happy ass in front of five fucking people. If that's the part of the story that I'm at, then that's just the part of the story that I'm at. Is it frustrating? Yeah. Is it overwhelming? Yeah. Could I really use a fucking hug right now? Yeah. But at the end of the day, I know nobody is coming to save me. Nobody's coming to do this shit for me. Nobody's gonna give a fuck about my career as much as I give a fuck about it. And I've already sacrificed too much to just throw everything down the drain. So shout out to the five people that I'll see you tomorrow at the show.
