Whatnot

Why it worked

The video leverages the "haul" format, which is inherently engaging for thrift and vintage enthusiasts, while seamlessly integrating the Whatnot platform as the source of the items.

Summary

The creator showcases several vintage items she purchased through the Whatnot app after returning from vacation. She highlights specific sellers and encourages viewers to recommend other sellers for her to shop with on the platform.

Structure

1Introduction to the Whatnot haul
2Showcasing a frog bathroom sign
3Displaying a vintage Hallmark wall plaque
4Presenting a Guinness bottle opener
5Highlighting a framed vintage fabric piece
6Showing a mushroom dish towel from a new seller

Product placement

(a) Whatnot: The creator operates the interface by showing items purchased through it, says she has "so many Whatnot packages," and explicitly asks for seller recommendations to shop with. Removing this would change the video as it is the central platform for the haul. (b) Guinness: A beer bottle opener appears as a physical item being shown; it is a branded item but not the primary product being sold. (c) Hallmark: A vintage wall plaque appears; it is a brand name on a vintage item, not the product being sold.

Do you guys want to see my Whatnot haul? I just got back from vacation and I have so many Whatnot packages I cannot wait to show you guys. As always, I will put the sellers' names at the top of the screen. I highly suggest all these sellers, they all have amazing things. I got this adorable frog bathroom sign for my girl Christina, the other CM. I mean, look how freaking adorable this is and I have it hung up on my little lime green wicker shelf in my bathroom. Also got this little wall plaque. It is a vintage Hallmark. It says, someday we'll look back on all this and laugh our buns off. I just thought the purple is so pretty. I love these for my gallery wall. Also snagged this from her. It's a Guinness beer bottle opener. My husband is a huge Guinness fan. We've actually went to the Guinness distillery in Dublin. Had to get this for him. This piece is one of my favorites. First of all, the frame is stunning. I am obsessed with lime green right now. And then she actually cut a piece of vintage fabric and put it in the frame and I mean, the flowers, it is just stunning. This is a new seller to me. It's Lovin_it_again. Got this adorable mushy dish towel. I mean, the colors are absolutely unreal. I cannot get over it. It's in such good condition. That's all I have for you guys today, but stay tuned. I literally have more packages from Whatnot coming and please let me know if there are any sellers that I need to be shopping with. You guys have a great day.
