Whatnot
Why it worked
The video leverages the popular 'haul' format to showcase a specific, visually appealing item, creating a sense of excitement and authenticity that encourages viewers to explore the platform used for the purchase.
Summary
The creator unboxes a vintage-style quilt she purchased through the Whatnot app. She shows off the quilt's pattern and colors, expressing her excitement to use it on her bed after washing it.
Structure
- 1Introduction of the Whatnot haul
- 2Unboxing the quilt
- 3Displaying the quilt's pattern and colors
- 4Discussing the machine-made quality
- 5Closing remarks about using the quilt
Product placement
Whatnot: (a) ACTS — the creator explicitly states she is doing a "Whatnot Haul," showing a package she received from the platform, and the video is centered around the unboxing of an item purchased through it. Removing the mention of Whatnot would change the context of the video from a platform-specific haul to a generic unboxing. Vinted: (b) APPEARS — the creator's bio link leads to a Vinted profile, but it is not mentioned or demonstrated in the video. Removing it would not change the video.
