The Pentagon canceled the planned nine-month Poland rotation of the 2nd Armored Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division after the Fort Cavazos brigade had already cased its colors, sent an advance team forward, and launched equipment overseas. About 4,000 soldiers were planned for the rotation in support of Operation Atlantic Resolve, the U.S. mission that rotates forces through NATO’s eastern flank. Army Times reported the decision disrupted at least 4,500 soldiers who had prepared homes, apartments, belongings, and families for a nine-month move. A brigade member estimated equipment retrieval could cost roughly $4 million. Poland announced in July that the rotation would resume, but U.S. officials did not publicly confirm the timing, troop number, or whether the same brigade would deploy. #army #miltok #militarylife #nato #poland
