This is how I'd style you for New York this fall. And there is a timelessness about fall style that I do have to mention here. Fall style can be done in just a range of four color tones. I'm going to add one other idea at the end. But the colors that you can just keep your wardrobe like this for year after year and it will always work are grays, obviously black, shades of blue including denim and navy, and lastly the tans, the camels. And honorable mention, sort of the olive and army green. So what kind of looks are we doing? First of all, I wouldn't wear head-to-toe black every single day, but I happen to love it from time to time and I think it can look incredible if you know how to work with the silhouette. There's so many subtleties here. A good contender is the V-neck cashmere sweater. Wear it by itself, wear it with a white t-shirt underneath. Next we have the tans and the camels. You can wear one striking piece like a tan jacket. You can wear a tonal combination and you can do it with the pants as well. Then we have our grays. Especially when it gets closer to winter, I love more and more a heather gray and this can be done in various different ways. And then we have our greens. The greens can be done in the pant. While the warm weather is holding out, you can also do a little short. I love it with this touch of pink here. Navy with the green pant makes it a little bit preppy. And lastly, this is where I lean toward the maximalist side and one thing I absolutely in love with this fall is a touch of brocade or a patterned silk or a floral or like a tapestry sort of print texture. Usually something with a little bit of color, especially in a coat, especially with a longer, more dramatic coat, but can also be done with the pants or other elements of the outfit. I love a minimalist look, but sometimes you just get into the maximalist mood. And if you like these looks, I made a full edit of all of my favorite pieces for the season. More details in the caption.
