My daughter had this idea to do a corner headboard

My daughter had this idea to do a corner headboard. Here's the inspo picture. I didn't want to cut out several different pieces so I'm trying to create the scalloped design on two pieces of plywood. Then I glued on two separate pieces of mattress topper foam and cut off the excess. I'm trying to create that look where it has a tufted channel going all the way down. I'm not sure if that's what it's called. I traced lines and cut the foam so that my fabric can be tucked in. But here's where I got stuck. When I stapled down the fabric in those channels, it would look pinched. So I decided to use this method instead. I stapled string on one side, pulled it tight, and then stapled it on the other side to keep the fabric down inside those channels. Just to show you what I mean, this is what happens when I would try to staple the fabric in between those sections. Nope! And then I hung these with French cleat hardware and it worked great. My daughter loves how it turned out and I added some other things like those shelves for a plant wall. Next I'll be sharing how I built those floating shelves with the scalloped detail on it.
